Mormelot – 2025-10-01
Mormelot — ELEVATED: Coordinated Barghest Black Ops and Khizriel Hunter Active
Snapshot (27–28 Sep 2025, UTC)
- Threat Level: ELEVATED
- Two distinct hostile profiles observed inside Mormelot within 24 hours:
- Large, coordinated Barghest fleet (Black Ops-style) — extreme lethality.
- Solo/small-gang Khizriel hunter (Sick Artley) — high danger to unescorted small/industrial ships.
Observed behavior
- Barghest gang composition: 4x Barghest, Onyx (HIC), multiple Recon/Huginns, Hyena scout — capable of rapid lock/alpha strikes and interdiction. Victim: Arazu (combat recon) — they engage capable combat ships.
- Solo hunter: Khizriel targeting Ventures and other unescorted frigates/destroyers — fast, opportunistic kills.
- Time windows: Barghest activity observed Saturday morning (UTC); Khizriel activity Saturday afternoon (UTC). These coincide with higher traffic windows in low-sec.
Risk profile for low-sec pilots
- High risk to solo pilots, miners, and unescorted logistics/transports.
- Encounters with the Barghest gang are likely fatal for lone or lightly tanked ships due to HIC interdiction + high alpha.
- The Khizriel poses a serious threat to mining frigates and unescorted small hulls — quick strike and escape.
Tactical advisory (apply immediately)
- Avoid transiting or operating in Mormelot during the flagged time windows, especially late Friday → Saturday morning UTC and Saturday afternoon UTC.
- Do not AFK in-system in industrial or lightly tanked hulls.
- Scout before entry: use a dedicated, fast scout alt or a disposable scout frigate to probe local d-scan and bookmarks before moving valuable ships through the system.
- If you encounter a Barghest gang: evade — attempt immediate warp to a safe, align to a celestials or safe spot; do not attempt solo engagement. Expect HIC interdiction (Onyx) and long-range alpha.
- If probed by a Khizriel: small ships should prioritize warp-off; combat-fit ships only engage when numerical or tactical advantage exists.
- When mining or hauling: operate with escorts, use bubbled/anchored safes sparingly, and plan clear escape vectors to gates or structures.
Closing
Mormelot’s recent activity shows both coordinated, high-capacity striking teams and agile lone hunters. Treat the system as high-risk during the specified windows and adapt operations accordingly.
